Junior Training

Junior sessions are designed to develop general athleticism and triathlon-specific skills in a way that is enjoyable and appropriate for younger athletes. Each session is designed with a specific training objective, and is delivered through a mixture of games, drills and discipline-specific exercises, to ensure young athletes are engaged and have fun while learning.

If you want to come along and try a session, please contact us at juniors@invictustriathlonclub.com.

Running/Cycling

Coached junior running/cycling sessions are held on Monday evenings from 18:30 to 19:30.

The nature and location of the sessions vary according to the training plan, which takes account of the time of year and the timings of the triathlon race season.  ITC Junior run/bike sessions are held at the same location as the Monday adult club run sessions.

Details of session locations are communicated to parents/guardians at the start of each new block of training.

NB Parents/carers are required to remain for the duration of the session, either as an observer or participating in the adjacent adult club session.

All running and cycling sessions are held in traffic-free locations, including:

1) DW stadium, Wigan. Parking adjacent to rear of stadium. See map below:

2) Pendlebury Lane, Haigh. See map below:

Participants should wear trainers and sports clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, and should have a drink with them.  Any other equipment needed for the session will be provided.

Swimming

Coached swimming sessions are held on Friday evenings from 19:30 to 20:30. These take place alongside the senior club session, but with dedicated lanes and coaches for ITC Juniors. Sessions are suitable for any junior able to swim 50m unassisted.

To cover the cost of hiring Hindley Pool, we require junior members attending swimming sessions to pay £5 per month.

Location – Hindley Pool, Borsdane Ave, Hindley, Wigan WN2 3QN. Parking available in adjacent car park in front of shops. See map below:

Participants need to bring swimwear, goggles, swim caps (optional).  Other equipment used in the sessions will be provided.

NB Parents/carers are required to remain for the duration of the session, either as an observer or participating in the adjacent adult club session.

Discipline-specific training

In addition to our own training, we encourage our members to attend discipline-specific training at one of the local swimming, cycling and athletics clubs.
